What does life balance mean to you?
Personal balance is often spoken of as 2 things: Work - Life.
In reality, finding balance can be much more complicated as we have so many aspects of your lives, and each aspect often has a level of important and also, a level of how much you care about it and want to include it in your life.
Some things we don't feel we have a choice in - we have responsibilities and may feel there are somethings we have no choice in - we just have to do them.
While it's not unusual to have to accomodate certain things in our day, week or month,
having an idea of what we want to include in that time can
help us bring more balance into our lives when we want to.
This is a prompt for you to make some time to think about what balance feels like to you...
Doe's your life feel 'balanced'? If not, or if you would like to find more balance, here are a few questions you may like to ask yourself...
Firstly:
This isn't an exercise in coming to a solution to any real or perceived imbalance. Try to answer these questions from an objective point of view without holding any judgement about why it is that way.
Timing is important:
Going through these questions when you are feeling tired, overwhelmed or stressed is not recommended and is likely to give you different responses than if you have some quiet/ quieter time to think about the question.
Consider:
-
How do I feel at this moment in time?
-
When do I feel that my life is balanced?
-
When do I feel my life is 'out of balance'?
-
How does it feel when I am in either of these states?
-
Do you prefer one state to the other and if so, why?
-
Looking at things objectively, is there anything you have thought of that you would like to change, and if so, is it in your control to make those changes at this point in time?
Asking yourself the questions above may be difficult for some while it will be easier for others.
There are many other questions to explore in this space such as whether any changes would be easy to do or were likely to be more difficult but just considering and feeling the answers to these few questions above can help us to look at things from or be open to looking at things from a different perspective.
